Dear St. Mark Families,
Spring has sprung! I hope you all enjoyed a blessed Easter and relaxing Spring Break. Summer and the end of school are around the corner.
The third quarter was very busy and full of activities sponsored by your PTO. Catholic Schools Week was a huge success and a wonderful way to kick-off the quarter. The Loose Change Drive raised $1,713.53 and was donated to Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas. It was a great week and a beautiful reminder of the reasons we’re a part of St. Mark Catholic School. The Father/Daughter Dance was a memorable night and always fun to see such excitement from the girls and their dads. The Kindergarten through second grade parents hosted a Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon from Zoe’s Kitchen. We sponsor three of these each year as a show of our support to all teachers and staff. Then, we wrapped up the quarter with our school service project supporting JDRF. Thus far, our community has raised over $52,000 for this cause, which touches many lives here at St. Mark. We’re waiting on final numbers and hope to see that increase! None of these events would take place, if not for the many volunteers who give so much of themselves. We thank them and encourage others to become a volunteer at St. Mark. The rewards are endless!
Before Easter, the PTO and SMAA sent out a survey asking for a vote on capital improvement project ideas. We received 210 responses. Covering the outdoor basketball court (now being nicknamed “airnasium”) received 102 votes, the playground obstacle course received 87 votes and resurfacing and widening of the track received 21 votes. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm toward such a large project. It has taken several months to arrive at this point and we hope to have visual plans and a project timeline over the coming weeks. PTO and SMAA are looking forward to combining our efforts. As always, please refer to the school website and Thursday Packet for updates.
Lastly, we’re asking all families to participate in our annual PTO spring survey. As a PTO, we use this information to help better our efforts for the coming year. We read each and every response and welcome all comments. We’re here as a representation of you, the parents, and your responses are vital to our continued success. Please take a few minutes and use the following link for our survey. It will remain open until Tuesday, May 2nd.

May you and your families enjoy a safe spring!
