November 3, 2016

Who can believe we’ve completed the first quarter of the school year? I’m so happy to be serving as your PTO President and hope you’re experiencing a terrific
start to the 2016-2017 school year.

This first quarter started off with a bang! The Kick-Off Party was a success as well as the Newcomer Coffee, Adult Social, Living Rosary, Staff Luncheon and Book
Fair. Our PTO Board Members and their committees have been busy and I thank them for their dedication.

I’d, also, like to thank all who participated in our fundraiser, “Take One Big Bite”. An amazing 65% of our families generously donated to the campaign this year. We surpassed our goal and raised $58,000!! Our Lion Share dollars raised were $28,500. As I mentioned in September, we are currently collecting bids for
outdoor and playground improvements, as voted on by families in the spring survey. We ask for your patience, as this can be a lengthy process. We’re hoping
to have bids submitted in the coming weeks and will keep you posted through the Thursday Packet.

As discussed at Back to School Night, we encourage each parent to spend one hour per semester volunteering at St. Mark. We’re off to a great start this year,
but to those who haven’t yet spent time in the school, we promise there is something to fit your schedule. You’ll find it rewarding and research consistently
shows that kids whose parents are involved in their school do better. Please check the website for Sign Up Genius links to many volunteer opportunities.

In closing, I’d like to thank you all for your support and generosity. We couldn’t make things happen here at St. Mark without you. “Alone we can do so little;
together we can do so much.” (Helen Keller)

As the holidays approach, I wish you and your families a healthy and happy season.

Many Blessings,

Amber Tsumas
PTO President 2016-18
