We believe it takes a village to help our students reach their full potential. We rely on the faith and support of our faculty, staff, and parents to help create a nurturing environment where students can grow, learn, and succeed. We teach our Lions to think critically, value knowledge, rely on faith and have confidence in their abilities.

St. Mark is a fully accredited, co-ed, K-8, Catholic school located in Huntersville, NC (a suburb of Charlotte). St Mark is an inclusive, welcoming community for students and families of all faiths and backgrounds.

Our Mission

We are committed to developing each child toward their full potential academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially. We will build on the foundation of our Catholic faith to guide them in their journey as followers of Christ.

Our Goal

We seek to give each student a solid lifelong foundation of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, service and academic excellence.

Our History

St. Mark Catholic School opened in August of 2003. The building consisted of classes from Kindergarten through sixth grade. The following year seventh grade was added, and 2005 eighth grade was added. The school is now complete with three classrooms of each grade K-8.

Our Beliefs

  • All students can learn.
  • Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
  • Student learning is promoted when students know they are in a safe, nurturing and physically comfortable environment.
  • Students learn best when they are actively engaged and have personal ownership in the learning process.
  • Classroom activities and assessments of student learning should provide opportunities for students to display their achievements in a meaningful and applicable context.
  • It is understood that students learn in a variety of ways and that they should be presented with different learning experiences to accommodate for those styles.
  • The whole child is developed when a student’s self-esteem is enhanced by positive interaction with and respect from peers and adults involved in the learning community.
  • The commitment to continuous improvement through cohesive decisions by stakeholders to ensure the meeting of expectations if imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, faith filled, and lifelong learners.

Our Curriculum

The curriculum is designed by the Diocese of Charlotte and is in compliance with the North Carolina State Department of Public Education. It includes a sequential program in religion, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, music, art, computer, physical education and health, and foreign language. The School has a library/media center program which offers quality reading selections. St. Mark has a school guidance counseling program that provides students opportunities, through classroom instruction, to realize the importance of self-esteem, decision making, positive peer influence, and antisubstance abuse information.

Sacramental Program

Saint Mark Catholic School participates in the parish sacramental program. This program is under the direction of the Parish Director of Religious Education operating out of the Faith Formation Center. While it is the privilege of Saint Mark Catholic School to help prepare the students for First Penance and First Eucharist, all other procedures are under the parish direction. All communications regarding the sacramental program are sent to parents through the Faith Formation Center. Parents are encouraged to assist in the program to help establish parish unity and community.

St. Mark Catholic School is accredited by the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction, and by the Diocese of Charlotte. We are accredited by Advanced Ed/SACS CASI. This district accreditation is reevaluated every five years. Through these accrediting agencies, St Mark Catholic School maintains a program of academic excellence for its students. Each faculty member is certified with renewal every five years. This renewal is contingent on required professional development.
