We, the St. Mark community, are committed to developing each child toward their full potential academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. We will build on the foundation of our Catholic faith to guide them in their journey as followers of Christ.
We seek to give each student a solid lifelong foundation of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, service, and academic excellence.
St. Mark opened in August of 2003. The school consisted of classes from Kindergarten through sixth grade. The following year, seventh grade was added and, in 2005, we grew to include eighth grade. The school is now complete with the capability of three classrooms of each grade K-8.
The curriculum is designed by the Diocese of Charlotte and is in compliance with the North Carolina State Department of Public Education. It includes a sequential program in religion, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, music, art, computer, physical education and health, and foreign language. The School has a library/media center program which offers quality reading selections. St. Mark has a school guidance counseling program that provides students opportunities, through classroom instruction, to realize the importance of self-esteem, decision making, positive peer influence, and antisubstance abuse information.
Saint Mark Catholic School participates in the parish sacramental program. This program is under the direction of the Parish Director of Religious Education operating out of the Faith Formation Center. While it is the privilege of Saint Mark Catholic School to help prepare the students for First Penance and First Eucharist, all other procedures are under the parish direction. All communications regarding the sacramental program are sent to parents through the Faith Formation Center. Parents are encouraged to assist in the program to help establish parish unity and community.
|St. Mark Catholic School is accredited by the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction, the Diocese of Charlotte, as well as by the accrediting body AdvancEd: Cognia. The process of accreditation, reevaluated every five years, serves to maintain excellence in education. In addition to school level and diocesan level accreditation, each of our faculty members maintains licensure with a five year renewal cycle. This renewal is contingent on professional development criteria.|
